Somewhere just off the beaten path...

Day Hike 5 – Penns Creek – Out & Back

While taking a week off from the ridge tops, G-Force and I took in a little Central PA History. We started our hike near the Poe Paddy Railroad Tunnel, hiked along Penns Creek to another railroad tunnel near Coburn, turned around and hiked back. Total Distance was near 10 Miles.

While the tunnels were very cool (pun intended), and the World Famous Ingleby Weather Rock was accurate, we also saw a snake warming itself near the railroad trestle, a few chipmunks, a tree-climbing ground hog, and an 85 year old monument to a World War I Vet and Penn State Alum (Class of 1919) who perished while swimming in Penns Creek.

But in the end, the highlight for me was a Green Frog orchestra complete with a Bull Frog on bass.
